Sheriff’s Department Warns of a Phone Scam Alert

Be careful and suspicious about anyone calling and claiming to be with National Grid.
Authorities say it’s probably a phone scam.
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office says the calls are coming from area codes 808 or 718 and promise to give discounts on your National Grid bill.
The scammers ask for personal information such as social security number or account information.
But the sheriff’s office says you shouldn’t release any personal information or return any calls.
The sheriff’s office encourages anyone who gets one of these calls to contact the authorities.
A plan to redevelop that Manny Hanny building has the backing from the Olean council.
The Common Council unanimously declared Savarino Companies of Buffalo a qualified and eligible sponsor to redevelop 101 N. Union St., the former Manufacturers Hanover building.
It allows the city Urban Renewal Agency, to negotiate a developer agreement, set a sale price and move ahead with the project .
