Man Arrested in Cuba-Rushford Bomb Scare Case

Police say they’ve arrested a North Carolina man accused of calling in a bomb threat in September at Cuba-Rushford middle school.
34 year old Phillip Dick has been charged. Police say he called the school Sept. 18 and said there was an explosive device inside the building. Cuba police and New York State Police evacuated the school and took staff and about 460 middle and high school students by bus to Cuba-Rushford Elementary School. No explosive device was found. police say Dick has ties to the area. If convicted he could be sentence to up to seven years in prison.
Cattaraugus County unemployment went up just a little bit in Novmber.
The unemployment rate increased to 4.2 percent, up from 4 percent in October. That means about 1,400 people collected unemployment. Before October, the last time the unemployment rate was lower than October’s figure was in October 2006.
