Cattaraugus County Animal Abuse Law Amended

Anyone in Cattaraugus County convicted of abusing an animal is now barred from owning farm animals too.
It was an important hole in the law that county lawmakers just plugged up. The law was approved by the Cattaraugus County Legislature on Wednesday. Anyone convicted of animal abuse has to stay a registry for 15 years after they get out jail. and anyone who sells an animal to them can be fined $500 to $2,000.
A second person has been arrested and charged with burglarizing a local business last month.
26 year old Stephen Frank was charged with third-degree burglary.
Police say Frank and Shane Rice, who was arrested last week, broke into Mike Ozzella Contracting last August and stole about $800, silver coins and computers and destroyed a wall safe. Police say Frank was on probation at the time. He had been convicted of forgery and was serving five years on probabtion .
