Salamanca Police Defend Officer Who Shot Pit Bull

The Salamanca police department is defending an off duty officer who shot and killed a loose dog on her property last week.
Kristin Lasseter has been a police officer for 14-years. She said shot a pit bull at her Little Valley home after it attacked her Doberman pinscher on the Fourth of July.
Capt. Shawn Gregory of the Cattaraugus County sheriff’s office said Lasseter was justified and no charges will be filed against her. Salamanca police, who conduct an internal investigation anytime an officer has contact with another agency while off duty, has also concluded Lasseter was justified.
The Farmersville Town Board has finished preliminary work on a new wind turbine law.
There’ll be a public hearing next month. The new law sets guidelines in Farmersville for the proposed $584 million, 108-turbine Alle-Catt Wind farm in Farmersville and Freedom in Cattaraugus County, Rushford and Centerville in Allegany County and Arcade in Wyoming County.
