2015 Accident Leads to Vehicular Assault Charges

Three years after a horrible accident that left a woman seriously injured, the driver, a Cattaraugus man is charged with vehicular assault. Police say 47 year old Shawn Maynard of Randolph was drinking and under the influence of drugs when he crashed.
It happened in Colhester on State Highway 30 in 2015. Police say Maynard wrecked on a a curve in the road and hit an earth embankment. The vehicle overturned, and his then-20-year-old passenger was thrown from the wreck and she’s still in a wheelchair today. He was arrested a few weeks ago after authorities learned he was in jail in Champaign County, Illinois.
History fans are anxious. Cattaraugus County museums are opening their doors on Saturday, or as they call it, Cattaraugus County Museum Day. Fifteen different area museums are taking part.
Museum Day lets museums recruit new members and volunteers, The museums have free admission, but donations are accepted.
