Olean Huskies Lose to Eventual State Champions

It was oh so close. But it took the eventual best in the state to eliminate the Olean Huskies over the weekend.
Huskies coach Dan Brooks said his girls exceeded everyone’s expectations by reaching the final four in the state tournament. The Olean softball team lost 5-0 loss to Ichabod Crane in the Class B state semifinals Saturday. Ichabod Crane went on to win its second state title in four years, beating six-time champion Susquehanna Valley, 2-0, in the final. Olean was bidding to become the first Big 30 softball team to reach a state championship game since 2010.
The First StrOlean of the year is in the books and organizers says it was a big success.
The weekend event showcased the renovated North Union Street. It’s the first of three scheduled for 2018.
The next two StrOleans are scheduled for Aug. 17 and Oct. 26.
