Olean Property Inspections Ready to Begin

Big changes are coming for renters and people who rent in Olean. Residential property inspections are set start at the end of the month. Inspections will cost $60. If a house or apartment fails an inspection, the property owner can fix it. If anyone rents out properties without a certificate, they can be fined anywhere between $250 to $1,000, and 15 days in jail. The inspections are expected to bring in $45,000 this year from the fees.
The man serving as the Cornell Cooperative Extension’s interim director in Cattaraugus County is settling in to his second month. Richard Rivers replaced Suzann Cushman when she left in January. Rivers started March 19th. But he’s not looking for a permanent position. He’ll help the baord find a replacement.
The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cattaraugus County board of directors will meet next week to begin the process of interviewing candidates for executive director.
