Olean Looking for AVX Olean Advanced Products Tenents

The home of Olean’s one time second largest employer is closed, but maybe not for good. There still could be new life coming to the AVX Olean Advanced Products plant. The Cattaraugus County Industrial Development Agency is said to have been working for the past 18 months to get a buyer for the building on Seneca.
In the 1960s, there were nearly 1,000 employees working there. It closed in March. It’s on the EPA Superfund site because it’s on top what’s believed to be the source of a plume of the degreaser trichloroethylene .
Company officials are considering demolishing the building and cleaning up the contamination .
Wellsville police say they’ve taken another herion dealer off the streets. 20 year old Diane Newsome was charged with selling and possessing heroin. They say she sold heroin in September. Newsome was one of four people arrested in October.
