Legislature Addresses Heroin

The war on heroin is stepping up in Allegany County.
Legislators are looking at news ways to fight the growing drug problem. An ad hoc committee chaired by freshman Legislator Judy Hopkins, R-Fillmore hopes to have some answers.
According to report in the Olean times herald, the committee will educate the public about heroin, and coordinate wil local task forces to fight it.
They’ll also try to get more money for treatment programs. The first committee meeting is set for one oclock this afternoon
The Cattaraugus County Legislature votes today on whether to use $3.8 million more in county money to pave more than 20 miles of roads.
County lawmakers will also vote on two resolutions for exterior renovations at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean.
The first resolution awards the general services contract to an Allegany contractor, for $350,000.
Another resolution sets aside $25,000 for Hinsdale for work on boat launch sites on Ischua and Olean creeks.
