Olean Intersection Construction

Things are going to slow down at Olean’s busiest intersection.
In fact, they’ll come to a complete stop.
The State and Union intersection will soon be a four-way stop while work is done on to make it a roundabout later this summer.
Work on phase three of the nearly $9 million dollar upgrade to North Union Street included installing a center median and two more roundabouts, and replacing the one hudred year old sewer underneath.
The project is being paid for with public, private and grant money. Most of it comes from a $6.5 million federal transportation grant the city received in September 2013.
We should know today who among the half a dozen people running for a single Highland Township supervisor vacancy is the winner. They all made presentations in front of President Judge Richard Masson Friday.
The vacancy was left by the death of former supervisor Paul Burton, who died on Dec. 31. Masson is expected to announce his selection today.
