Two More COVID-19 Cases Brings Cattaraugus Total to 119

Two more coronavirus cases in Cattaraugus County over the weekend brings the county’s total to 119.
The 118th confirmed case is a man who lives in the southeast area. He was tested for COVID-19 on Thursday as part of a pre-op exam. The man, who has been asymptomatic, received his COVID-19 positive result on Saturday.
The 119th confirmed case also is a man who lives in the southeast. The man developed a loss of taste after coming into direct contact with someone who was positive for COVID-19 positive individual. The man was tested for COVID-19 on Friday; he received his positive result on Sunday.
Sales tax collections were up last month in Olean, Salamanca, and Cattaraugus County.
state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli reported The Western New York region saw June sales tax revenues of $113 million, 1.4% higher than in 2019. The only county to see sales tax declines in the region in June was Erie County, which saw a 1.6% decrease.
