Memorial Day Parades Cancelled

This Memorial Day will be a bit different from those in the past.
Concerns about the coronavirus have led local veterans organizations to cancel public parades and observances for Memorial Day.
But they say they’ll still have private services to remember their fallen brothers.
Veterans in Olean will fire a three-volley salute followed by a rendition of “Taps” in Veterans Field in Mount View Cemetery.

Area service clubs did better than they expected this year in the annual Service Above Self Challenge.
They were shooting for $5,000 in donations. They not only met that goal, but raised another thousand dollars for the COVID-19 Response Fund for Cattaraugus County.

Volunteers needed for curbside pick-up of Genesis House geraniums in early June at War Veterans Park on East State Street.
The fundraiser will help fund the homeless shelter, will conduct curbside pick-up for the plants from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 3-6.
