Olean City Schools Closed

Olean city schools are closed for the foreseeable future because of the COVID-19 infections spreading across the state. Schools throughout Cattaraugus and Allegany counties will reportedly be closed at least by Wednesday. In a letter to the district Sunday, Olean City School District Superintendent Rick T. Moore said the district is working on alternative plans of instruction. Portville Central School District will be closed to students effective Wednesday through April 12.
The New York State Department of Public Service is working with utilities to make sure customers affected by COVID-19 restrictions will not lose power or heat due to financial hardship.
The state’s major electric, gas, and water utilities will take immediate action to suspend service shutoffs to households during the outbreak.
