Olean’s Friendly’s Restaurant Survives Corporate Closures

the Friendly’s restaurant in Olean has been saved from the axe and it’s the only one left in Western New York
23 other locations in the Northeast were closed last weekend. including 14 in Upstate New York,
Friendly’s CEO said shifting demographics, consumer preferences, increased competition and rising prices were to blame for the closings. After this past weekend’s closings, Friendly’s now has 77 corporate-owned restaurants and 97 franchisee-owned restaurants nationwide.
four aldermen seats are up for grabs this November in Olean. Nine people have filed so far.
Two of the aldermen won’t be seeking re-election.
two primaries are tentatively slated for June for the Ward 2, 4, 6 and 7 races. Each seat is for a two-year term.
Anyone wanting to run as an independent may begin circulating petitions on April 16. Candidates may file their petitions between May 21 and 28.
