Olean Mayor Aiello Delivers Sixth State of the City

Olean Mayor Bill Aiello’s sixth State of the City address, was filled with hope and promise.
He emphasized public works and improvements. He said that the $10 million Walkable Olean project on North Union Street is paying dividends two years later. Still to come, a $5.5 million project for public works from the Downtown Revitalization Initiative Streetscape projects on West and East State streets, and on South Union Street.
The mayor also said he’s pushing to get the Olean Police Department body cameras next year.

It’s been 20 years since there’s been an increase in how much the state gives Department of Motor Vehicle offices. Now they want a raise. The New York State Association of County Clerks is asking Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the state legislature to increase the percentage of reimbursement for county DMV transactions from 12.7 percent to 25 percent. It is the group’s highest legislative priority this year.
