New Tips in 34 Year Old Despard Case

POlice are hoping some new tips will help crack a cold case.
An anonymous, handwritten note started Olean Police Department digging into a 34th year old missing person case of Josephine Cottone Despard. Olean police said they’ve received a handful of other tips in the past few months and and a couple of new interviews.Despard was 26 when she was last seen. She was separated from her husband and had a 6 month old daughter. Police say the last man she was was seen with was convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl and a 21-year-old woman a few years before Despard’s disappearance.
Soon there will be three fewer homes in Olean.
The city’s strategic planning committee wants to demolish three run down city-owned houses .
The committee’s looking at the worst of the worst of the city-owned properties to start with.
The city bought several run down homes and plan to either have them renovated, or torn down.
