National Fuel Requests Voluntary Heat Rationing

National Fuel says it’s customers should in Cattaraugus and Allegany counties need to use less, not more heat because it’s concerned about having enough gas for everyone.
A gas delivery issue centered at a facility in Pennsylvania is to blame. Spokesperson Karen Merkel says the request is for customers in Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties to dial back the heat by five degrees. She says it’s completely voluntary.
Merkel says the elderly and the ill should ignore the request and keep the temperature in your home comfortable.
The good news about this cold winter weather is that the Allegany ice skating rink is almost ready. Community members are getting together to continue the tradition of ice skating in the Town Square, and it should be ready soon. If the weather continues to cooperate, there is a plan to hold an event on the square and provide hot chocolate and hot dogs.
