Portville Election Ends in a Tie

The election is not over in Portville.
Fire District voters will vote again next month because both commissioner races ended in a tie Tuesday night. Under state law, if a fire commission election ends in a tie, the candidates with the most votes must be placed on a ballot within 45 days of the first vote.
We’re getting about $3.8 million in grants from the state for nine projects across Cattaraugus County.
The Western New York Economic Development Council Awards include three Olean projects. In addition to the $10 million Downtown Revitalization Program grant The city’s also getting $500,000 to revitalize the vacant Manufacturer’s Hanover Trust Co. Building.
$200,000 to establish a city Microenterprise Program. and $59,000 for Forness Park Trail, a trail designed to enhance safety and accessibility for local recreational facilities. It would create a connection to Bradner Stadium, War Vets Park, the William O. Smith Recreation Center and the Allegheny River Valley Trail.
