Federal Flood Money Less Than Needed

The state money coming in to help Cattaraugus County recover from the 2015 flooding wouldn’t be enough to cover what was damaged. The Flood aid for damages is expected to only pay for about one-quarter of the repair costs. But state Sen. Catharine Young, R-Olean, requested $7 million for her district to a bill that gave money for Lake Ontario flooding. It was approved by the Assembly and signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The flood damage suffered by Cattaraugus, Allegany and Chautauqua counties in July 2015 wasn’t bad enough for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide full reimbursement.

The current center has treated men with substance abuse issues for 15 years.
