Freeze Watch Issued for Friday Night

The Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of Summer …but it won’t be very summer-like this weekend.
The National Weather Service has posted a Freeze Watch for Friday night through Saturday morning for Cattaraugus and Allegany counties, as well as northern Pennsylvania. Temperatures are expected to fall to 30 degrees tonight.

Police Search for Suspect in Park Attack

A homeless man was hit in the head several times with a river rock at South City Park last night and Redding Police police are looking for the man who did it. 40-year-old Alexis James Gay was taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.

Mon Charged with Manslaughter in One-Year-Old Daughter’s Death

A Cattaraugus County woman is behind bars, charged with the death of her one-year-old baby. Salamenca Police arrested 25-year-old Leslie Finch on charges of manslaughter, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child. Her daughter died at a Buffalo hospital April 26th of injuries investigators say were likely caused by abuse. Finch is being held in the Cattaraugus County Jail on $100,000 bail. She’s scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

Four Hurt in Hinsdale Crash

Four people were injured in a two-car crash on Route 16 in Hinsdale. 36-year-old Jason Chapel of Salamanca and and his 12-year-old daughter were airlifted to hospitals in Buffalo after Friday night’s accident. 32-year-old Barry Keeley of Olean and an 11-year-old girl were treated for minor injuries. Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s deputies say Keeley’s car rear-ended Chapel’s vehicle, causing it to flip onto its roof. Keeley was cited for speeding and following too closely.

Police Search for Missing Allegany County Woman

New York State Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing Allegany County woman. 67-year-old Deanna Reddy was last seen just before noon Monday, leaving an office on Dugway Road in Hume. Reddy is 5-feet-4-inches and approximately 120 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. Reddy’s family is concerned for her well-being because she left without her required medication.

Freeze Watch Posted for Cattaraugus, Allegany Counties Tonight

What a difference a couple of days can make! Last weekend, the Twin Tiers had record warm weather. Now, the National Weather service has issued a Freeze Watch, for tonight thru Thursday morning, for Cattaraugus and Allegany counties.

School Resource Officer Sued for Excessive Force

Bradford Area High School Resource Officer Hiel “Butch” Bartlett is being sued in federal court, accused of excessive force for allegedly pepper-spraying and handcuffing an “emotional support” student at the school last year. The lawsuit against Bartlett, a member of the Bradford City Police Department, was filed by the 17-year-old student’s family.

Two Injured in Amish Buggy Crash

Two children were hurt when a car collided with an Amish buggy on Route 62 in Leon last night. State Police say all four occupants of the buggy were ejected. A 2-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy were taken to Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, in stable condition. The buggy was destroyed.

Shad Gutshall Arraigned on Armed Robbery Charges

The last of the three suspects in the armed robbery of a Port Allegany man in Crosby last week has been arraigned in McKean County district court. A judge set bail at $50,000 yesterday for 31-year-old Shad Gutshall of Warren, and ordered him to return to court next Thursday. His co-defendants, 23-year-old Styephanie Berg and 25-year-old Richard Gould, are due in court tomorrow.

Sexual Assault on St. Bonaventure Campus

Police are investigating a reported sexual assault on the St. Bonaventure University campus. University officials say it happened Saturday night in a student apartment on campus and the suspect’s identity is known. No other information was released.
